Salary: £24,797 per annum - Grade 2 37 hours per week Fixed term 2 year

An exciting development opportunity has arisen within our Housing department for an Apprentice to formally train and develop the skills to become a Social Housing professional.

This job will provide on-the-job training and experience in a Local Government setting, combined with undertaking a formal Level 3 Housing and Property Management Apprenticeship leading to becoming a member of Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH). 20% of your time at work will be allocated to your apprenticeship training. This opportunity will enable the right candidate to fully experience the inner workings of a Housing Management, Housing Options and Lettings service.

You will learn how to deal with everyday customer queries and issues to help customers access the service. You’ll be working alongside the Housing Operations Team throughout the contract, being able to learn from their knowledge and experiences.

Broxtowe Borough Council has around 4,500 of its own tenanted Council properties, as well as another 1,000+ customers that are seeking Social Housing from the Council or one of the Council’s Registered Social Landlord partners.

 We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Dealing with people
  • Administration
  • Using Microsoft Word and Excel

 The ideal candidate would be:

  • Understand the need to be sensitive and to maintain confidentiality

 What you need to know:

  • The role is for a fixed term of around two years
  • Working hours are 37 per week, with normal office hours being Monday to Friday, 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (4.30 p.m. on Fridays)
  • You will undertake formal training during the contract which will be provided by an external training provider – willingness to travel occasionally will be essential.
  • We are happy to consider part-time hours (minimum of 30 per week)
  • Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16 or over and there is no upper age limit.

Successfully shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend a formal interview which will include a test/scenario/exercise in order to determine suitability for the role.
