How To Pay Council Tax

Payment Options

The Council have to pay transaction fees and charges for receiving your payments. If we can reduce these costs, the costs of collecting Council Tax are lowered and this will help keep council tax levels down.

Therefore, the preferred method of payment is by Direct Debit. You can complete and return our Direct Debit Instruction Form (.pdf) (167KB) (Opens in a New Window)

You can pay online via our e-store (Opens in a New Window) or find out more information on other payment methods available using our helpful guide. (.pdf) (39.2KB) (Opens in a New Window)

Problems Paying

If you do not pay your Council Tax the Council will decide the best way to get it back from you and begin recovery proceedings. Do not ignore the notices we send you. It will only make matters worse.

If you have problems paying your instalments on time or have financial difficulties, please contact us immediately. You can also get advice from Citizens Advice Bureau.
