T305 - Civil Enforcement Officer Technician

Salary: Grade (5) £26,899 to £28,320. 37 Hour working week on a rotational basis. The working hours and patterns will be discussed at interview.

We are looking for a Civil Enforcement Officer-Technician to assist with patrolling Council owned parking places on foot and by vehicle, ensuring full compliance throughout the Borough, providing frontline enforcement duties in accordance with the Council’s off-street parking place orders and relevant government legislation. Guiding the public on rules and advise about parking provisions. Reporting any defects to street furniture, such as signs, markings and general car parking facilities. 

We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:

  • Issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) using handheld devices as required to vehicles parked in contravention of the relevant restrictions
  • Numerical and literacy skills with the ability to work methodically
  • Motor vehicle identification
  • Good understanding of Customer Care and working with the public

The ideal candidate would have:

  • Excellent visual and observation skills
  • Good record keeping and evidence gathering
  • Knowledge of Civil Parking Enforcement and the Traffic Management Act 2004
  • Local Knowledge of Town Centres throughout the Borough.
  • Excellent customer care skills and be able to converse in a friendly and effective manner
  • Someone who represents our GREAT values and behaviours

What you need to know:

The role will require you to be physically able to undertake the duties of this post and be able to walk long distance and flights of stairs where required. Rotational hours outside normal hours will be required. You will also be required to hold a full driving licence. 

There will be a short test as part of the interview.
