Description

About the event Attenborough Nature Centre will be exhibiting the art of Gemma Allcock in January. The exhibition is located in the corridor at Attenborough Nature Centre and will be available during standard opening hours. A proportion of all sales will be donated to the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. About the artist Hi, I’m Gemma, a Pastel Artist, Mum and pet/wildlife lover. In July 2020 I picked up a pencil again, many years after leaving art college. People said how good I was and after hours of practicing, out of the blue, people began asking for commissions on social media . From a hobby to business in six months was a shock to me. I had always drawn cartoons in the past, but found a new passion for graphite and coloured pencil animal portraits. After three years, I found pastel pencils and fell in love with using them, so I decided to specialise in them. Here I am today, living my dream as an artist! Based in Nottingham, I work in my cosy home studio. Feel free to get in touch if you have an idea for your own pet portrait or have a photo of another subject, e.g. wildlife, landscape, etc., which you would like me to transform into a unique pastel artwork.
