Eastwood Christmas Lights Switch On will take place this year on Saturday 22 November 3:30pm – 7:00pm - new for 2025 the event will be at the weekend to allow more time for festivities!
The Christmas market on Scargill Walk by the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum opens at 3:30pm, offering tasty festive food, sweets, donuts, gifts, and community stalls. Stop by for face painting and extra Christmas sparkle! Santa will be in his magical grotto at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum Courtyard from 3:30pm–6:30pm, with a sensory-friendly hour from 3:30pm–4:30pm. Free tickets available on Eventbrite! (Opens in a new window)
From 4:30pm, enjoy live entertainment in Eastwood Square and Scargill Walk, including the playful Victorian act Fagin and Dodge and festive tunes played by the illuminated musical act, Snow Patrol. There will be a festive nativity trail throughout the town, and carol singing led by Eastwood & District Churches Together. Sizing up a Christmas crowd is a big job, so Santa has sent out his biggest helpers Horace and Boris, the Bouncing Elves, to take notes! How do you measure up - Naughty or Nice? Don’t miss the high-energy Rock n Roll performance by 3-piece band Good Times Roll, festive tunes by Springbank Academy and Christmas party tines from 4-piece band Money Talks. Fairground rides will be on Iceland Car Park.
At 5:30pm, the Mayor of Broxtowe and Eastwood Town Mayor will officially switch on the Christmas lights at Eastwood Square, followed by dazzling fireworks at 6:30pm, best viewed from Nottingham Road near Eastwood Library. Remember, the live stage performances will continue until 7:00pm this year!

This event is organised by Broxtowe Borough Council, in association with Eastwood Town Council, and proudly sponsored by headline sponsor Boyes with fairground support by Iceland.
Please note: Nottingham Road throughout the Town Centre will be closed 4.00pm-8.00pm from Plumptre Way to the Junction with Mansfield Road. Additional roads and Town Centre car Parks will be affected by the closure. Scargill Walk Car Park will be closed 12:00–8:00pm and Scargill Walk be closed from 1.30pm. Affected residents will be notified in advance.
Road Closures
Please note the following proposed road closures (during the road closure period no vehicles or deliveries will be permitted).
- 4:00pm – 8:00pm Road Closure along Nottingham Road from Plumptree Way to Mansfield Road junction (Off A608).
- 1:30pm – 8:00pm Scargill Walk from its junction with Victoria Street.
- 12:00pm – 8:00pm Scargill Walk car park will also be closed.
- Alexandra Street car park will be closed from 7:00pm the night before until 11:00pm on the day.
- 4:00pm – 8:00pm With the exception of emergency vehicles, there will be no access in or out of the following streets during the road closure:
- Alexandra Street
- Albert Street
- Atherfield Gardens
- Essex Street
- Grange View
- Charlotte Court
- Grosvenor Road
- King Street
- Oxford Street
- Princes Street
- Victoria Street
- Wellington Street
- Wellington Place
- Wood Street
Residents on the streets listed above are advised to make temporary arrangements to park their vehicles outside of the closure area should they need to use them.
