Stapleford Christmas Lights Switch On

Stapleford Christmas Lights Switch On will take place throughout the town this year on Saturday 29 November 1:00pm – 7:00pm at Walter Parker VC Memorial Square (NG9 7AR) & Derby Road Central Car Park (NG9 7AS).

The day kicks off from 1:00pm with a Christmas market on Victoria Street full of festive treats, hot food, sweets, donuts, and community stalls. For 2025 children's fair rides and stalls as well as live entertainment will be on the Derby Road and Medivet car parks.

From 1:00pm to 4:30pm, children can meet Santa in his grotto at the Stapleford & Bramcote Conservative Club. Sensory-friendly sessions run from 1:00pm to 2:00pm—places are limited, book your free tickets early via Eventbrite! (Opens in a new window).

The main entertainment begins at 4:30pm with live stage performances at Derby Road Car Park, including funfair rides, meet lively street theatre act Elves and the Goodometer and find out if you have been naughty of nice. Enjoy carol singing by the George Spencer Academy Band the popular acoustic duo Fran and Jono, then dance into the evening with a lively set from The SKAS playing upbeat Ska and 2Tone tunes.

The Christmas Lights Switch On takes place at the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square by the Christmas Tree at 5:30pm, led by the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Stapleford Town Mayor, followed by a fireworks finale at 7:00pm, best viewed from the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square.

The event is organised by Broxtowe Borough Council, in partnership with Stapleford Town Council and the Stapleford Christmas Lights Steering Group, and proudly sponsored by Robert Ellis Stapleford, with support from the Stapleford Community Group, Poundstretcher and Medivet.

Road Closures

Please note the following proposed road closures (during the road closure period no vehicles or deliveries will be permitted).

• 10:00am – 9:00pm Victoria Street – closed from junction with Derby Road up to junction with Eatons Road
• 1:00pm – 8:00pm Derby Road – No waiting or loading in parking bays along Derby Road from Halls Road junction to William Road junction.
