C4 - Communications & Civic Officer
Are you a confident people person? Do you have excellent organisation, event management and communications skills? From managing the Mayor’s diary to coordinating events like our Volunteer Awards and high profile public events such as the annual Remembrance parade, no day is the same in this unique and interesting role.
You will be at the forefront of an all-year round programme of civic engagement facilitating a wide range of civic, charity and corporate events for Broxtowe Borough Council and providing support to the Mayor in carrying out an extensive number of engagements each year.
The successful candidate must be a strong communicator, committed to providing a high standard of customer care and will take prime responsibility for the co-ordination of a busy mayoral diary, including direct liaison with a wide range of residents and community groups, as well as regular contact with a variety of dignitaries and high level public servants.
Working in the Communications, Cultural and Civic Services Team, team work is essential as well as being able to work creatively to your own initiative to meet deadlines. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are also vital.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- Managing the diary or workload of others
- Event and project management (design, planning, delivery and evaluation)
- Managing budgets
- Building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Line Management
- Preparing publicity material and briefings
The ideal candidate would be:
- Highly motivated, organised and able to work under pressure
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Diplomatic and professional
- A team player
What you need to know:
The hours of work are 22.5 hours per week, with a minimum of three working days per week to ensure the service is covered fully.
There is also a requirement to work outside of normal office hours, including some evenings and weekends a handful of times a year, always with advanced notice.
The Council supports hybrid working so there are opportunities to work from home within this role, provided that business need is met.
