Smoke Control Areas

A Smoke Control Area is one where you can’t emit smoke from a chimney unless you’re burning authorised fuel or using exempt appliances like burners or stoves. If you break these rules you can be fined up to £1,000.

The majority of the Borough of Broxtowe is designated as a smoke control area and so it is important that residents ensure they are compliant with the area regulations.
