Over £13,500 Raised to Help The Helpful Bureau Purchase New Minibus
The Helpful Bureau in Stapleford was set up as Stapleford Volunteer Bureau in 1976 and has been helping local Broxtowe residents to live safely & independently at home since. In 2001 they became known as The Helpful Bureau and the organisation has grown from strength to strength.
Councillor Paterson said: “I am absolutely delighted and moved by the generosity shown by local people and businesses who have donated their time and resources to raise the massive amount of money for The Helpful Bureau. The new minibus will help the Bureau supporting the over 55s and those with disabilities to remain active, socialised and independent, from daytrips to help at home”.
The fundraising total was achieved through a series of fundraising events, including charity golf day, Robin Hood Marathon, charity raffles, a charity Irish Day, donations, sponsorship and a guess the name of the monkey competition.
The new minibus will mark an exciting new chapter for the Helpful Bureau’s outreach and accessibility efforts.
