Coasteroo
Coasteroo specialises in creating unique, photo-printed gifts. The wide range of products on offer includes coasters, slate, mugs, magnets and much more – all designed and printed in store!
Having previously shared an entrance with DG Sales and Lettings next door, a £3,188 Kimberley Means Business grant meant that Lee was able to install his own shop entrance, swing sign, and new energy efficient windows, significantly improving Coasteroo’s High Street presence and footfall into the shop.
After working in various design roles, Lee decided to start his own venture, initially launching Coasteroo on various selling platforms such as Amazon, Ebay and Etsy. 9 years later, Lee decided to put his all into Coasteroo and set up shop at 46 Main Street, Kimberley. What started as just a small selection of TV and Film inspired drinks coasters soon became an ever expanding inventory, a portfolio boasting various projects for other businesses and lots of design work for individuals looking for a special gift.
Lee has steadily been accumulating quite the fan base in Kimberley, Broxtowe and beyond, even selling his products to celebrities such as Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) and Norman Lovett (Red Dwarf).
It's not just printed gifts at Coasteroo though, Lee has been a trader in Lego since the around 2007. Opening the shop allowed Lee to buy and sell Lego at the counter which brings other customers over the threshold who might otherwise have walked by without a second glance.
Now Coasteroo has its own portal through to the shop, it has made the store more inviting to passersby and Coasteroo has seen an increase in customers since. The new windows have also solved a condensation problem in the shop front that was previously leaving puddles of water inside.
Lee, Coasteroo’s founder, said, "Qualifying for the Kimberley Means Business grant, then modernising the shop windows and entrance, were great steps for me to really get Coasteroo recognised on the High Street. Since opening I have met so many wonderful people. Having the face-to-face interaction with my customers makes every day a pleasure to open my new shop door!"
Kimberley Means Business is UK Government funded and is administered by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with Kimberley Town Council.
