Meeples & Mulligans

Dave’s passion for board games led him open his own specialist shop in Kimberley.

During four years of business, and two years on Kimberley’s Main Street, Meeples & Mulligans have built up a loyal community in Kimberley of board game enthusiasts, miniature game fanatics, and trading card aficionados. Dave’s passion and expertise ensures a warm welcome to new faces and regulars alike.Owner Dave outside Meeples and Mulligans

The shop was awarded a Kimberley Means Business grant of £3,995 to convert two upstairs storage rooms into new play spaces, as well as installing new signage for the shop front. The conversion of the upstairs space has enabled Meeples & Mulligans to more than double their capacity to host events, meaning more people can play the games they love in store.

Having had a lifelong interest in board games, Dave turned his passion into a career when he began working for UK table top games giant, Asmodee, in 2012. Nine years later, following industry roles in retail, publishing, and marketing, he set up his own business, Meeples & Mulligans in 2021.

Two years down the line and Dave realised his dream as he took the business to its first bricks and mortar site at 35 Main Street in Kimberley.

Since opening its doors to the public, new signage has improved the business’s presence on the high street and the shop has amassed a number of regular players and a friendly community, which now has the space to grow even larger.

Meeples & Mulligans owner, Dave, said, “The support from this funding, and the local community has been fantastic since I opened my doors in Kimberley! I hope that I can continue to share my love of games for many more years to come!”

Kimberley Means Business is UK Government funded and is administered by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with Kimberley Town Council.
