Bramcote Crematorium has successfully raised £12,500 for two local bereavement charities through its recycling initiative
The allocations of the donations are as follows:
£6,250 to Treetops Hospice in Derbyshire.
£6,250 to the Alzheimer’s Society in Nottingham.
This initiative has involved collaboration with bereaved families and Orthometals, providing an opportunity for families to donate metals that remain after the cremation process. These range from metals used in coffins to orthopaedic implants. It is essential to note that this recycling process is conducted only with the full consent of the deceased’s family.
Portfolio Holder for Environment and Climate Change said, “Bereavement is a very challenging time; therefore, it is commendable to witness the emergence of positive outcomes that support others in similar situations. We express our gratitude to all families who have participated in the scheme, enabling us to raise this significant amount for Treetops Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society.”
Since the inception of the national scheme, over £22 million has been donated to assist various charities, with an additional £2 million set to be allocated to deserving organisations this year.
