Council to develop a Healthy Living Hub in Eastwood

17/12/2025 - Broxtowe Borough Council will develop plans for a Healthy Living Hub on Walker Street in Eastwood, as part of its commitment to invest in the town.

The Council’s Cabinet last night (16 December) agreed to commit £140,000 to further develop the plans and apply for any appropriate external funding grants to help the project come to fruition. The clock outside Eastwood Library

The proposal for the Healthy Living Hub includes a new health and wellbeing hub that will house a new GP surgery, pharmacy, library, 5-lane community swimming pool, boxing club and women’s services.

Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Asset Management and Development, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said: “Eastwood urgently needs better health facilities, and this new centre will deliver modern services for residents alongside high-quality leisure amenities.

With regeneration schemes progressing in our other towns, Eastwood requires significant investment for the future. The Walker Street site is now a key regeneration priority for the Council and the Borough. As with projects in Kimberley and Stapleford which have been externally funded, it would be challenging for the Council to fund the Healthy Living Hub alone. The Cabinet’s decision on allocating finances this week ensures we can develop detailed plans and apply for external funding to bring the project to fruition.”
