Inaugural Beeston Summer Fete coming to Beeston in August
The event will replace Beeston’s summer Play Day but will still incorporate a wide range of free activities for kids and adults alike – kicking off with a carnival parade at 12pm.
Starting on Foster Avenue, the parade will march through Beeston Square and High Road, before ending at Broadgate Park, and will include lively displays of music and colour.
Throughout the afternoon, enjoy a packed line-up of entertainment at Broadgate Park, including:
- Live stage performances.
- Fairground rides and inflatables (small charge may apply).
- Free face painting, puppet shows, circus skills workshops and donkey petting.
- Local traders, arts and crafts and community stalls.
- Competitions for the best homegrown vegetables and flowers, homemade cakes and jams.
- Beeston Food Fair will also take place in Beeston Square from 8am – 2pm, serving up a delicious variety of street food, local treats, sweets, and ice cream.
Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure, Councillor Teresa Cullen, said, “I’m delighted to be able to introduce the Beeston Summer Fete this year, bringing a vibrant celebration to Broadgate Park. This event has come about after feedback from residents who missed the old Beeston Carnival, and so I’m very excited to be able to bring some elements of that back to the Beeston community. There will be plenty of stalls and activities for all ages, including competitions for homemade goodies – come on down and join in the festivities!”
Residents are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport. If driving, please use the town centre car parks.
Parade Road Closures (11:45am – 12:45pm) - To ensure everyone’s safety during the parade, the following roads will be closed:
- Station Road (B6006) – from Commercial Avenue to Middle Street.
- Commercial Avenue – up to Foster Avenue.
- Foster Avenue – to Chilwell High Road.
- Chilwell High Road – between Styring Street and Foster Avenue.
