Broxtowe Borough Council pioneering Eastwood Community Hub ‘CEDARS’ to open
Since the closure of Eastwood’s NHS Health Clinic in 2015, residents have had to travel to other towns to access NHS services such as District Nurses and specialist clinics. CEDARS will house clinics, therapists and screening services, providing residents with access to key health resources.
The new community hub will also provide Job Centre Plus services from the DWP that Eastwood residents also currently have to travel for, delivering another crucial facility to the local population.
Broxtowe Borough Council’s Housing Team will also be in the building to assist Broxtowe tenants with any enquires, as well as aiding with repairs.
Residents will be able to find out what’s on via partners’ social channels and an electronic display board at the front of the building.
Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Asset Management, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said, ‘We’re really proud to announce the opening of the new CEDARS Hub which will provide much needed and valuable services to the residents of Eastwood, a town which has been missing this type of resource for years. For too long the people of Eastwood have had to travel too far to places like Heanor and Alfreton to access services that will now be available on their doorstep to better their health and wellbeing, which I’m delighted to be able to deliver.’
CEDARS will open at 47 Nottingham Road later this month.
