Kimberley resident sentenced for breaching Criminal Behaviour Order
Broxtowe Borough Council was awarded £250 towards their costs and a Victim Surcharge of £154 was also applied.
The resident was sentenced on 29 April 2025 at Nottingham Magistrate’s Court.
A Criminal Behaviour Order was first granted in 2021 when the Council prosecuted the resident, following the removal of cats in poor condition. Since then, regular visits have been carried out at the address to monitor the ongoing requirements. These visits identified cats, cat food and bedding in the property, which resulted in the resident being taken back to court for a breach of the Criminal Behaviour Order.
The Council will continue to monitor the Criminal Behaviour Order and take any action necessary to ensure the conditions of the order are upheld.
Anyone who feels they are no longer able to care for their pets is urged to seek advice from a registered animal charity and do not leave them with third parties, even if they have good intentions to help.
If you have a cat, you must ensure it is microchipped before it is 20 weeks old. You should also ensure that the microchip details are kept up to date as this will give the best chance of being reunited with your cat, should it become lost.
