More free cycle repairs and advice now available through Stapleford Towns Fund
Since launching in November 2022, the RideWise team has repaired 1,380 bikes and supported over 3,300 people - providing vital help to local cyclists and becoming a much-loved part of the community.
The Cycle Hub is a popular weekly fixture, offering bike checks, repairs, and friendly advice every Sunday from 9am to 1pm at the Ilkeston Road Recreation Ground Car Park.
The Hub is funded through the Government’s £21m Stapleford Towns Fund investment that aims to regenerate the town and support active living.
Ian Jowett, Stapleford Towns Fund Board Chair, said: “Over the last few years, the fantastic RideWise team at our Stapleford Cycle Hub have provided a hugely valuable, free service to our community and we are delighted to be able to fund their work for even longer through the Stapleford Towns Fund.
“A priority of the Towns Fund is to support sustainable and active travel, and thousands of people of all ages have already benefitted from free support and repairs to get back on the road - brilliant for their health and wellbeing and our environment too.”
RideWise is a Nottingham-based charity that helps people to get around through walking, cycling and greener forms of transport.
Helen Hemstock, RideWise Chief Executive, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have secured an extension to continue running our much-loved Stapleford Cycle Hub. The hub has been a huge success, helping countless people get back on their bikes and out on the road safely.
“Thanks to our skilled mechanics and dedicated volunteers, we'll be there every Sunday offering free support to help the community travel in greener, more affordable, and easier ways. We couldn’t be more excited to keep the wheels turning and Stapleford pedalling!”
