  • Challenge hate and discrimination.
  • Support victims and witnesses.
  • Promote respectful communities.
  • Work in partnership to prevent hate crime.
  • Encourage reporting and access to support services.

Over the coming months, the Council will be continuing to engage with local people about hate crime, how to report it and where to get support, as well as promoting understanding, empathy and respect in our community.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said, “Broxtowe is the wonderful place it is because of its diversity and the vast majority of local residents really support that. We want to work with them to create a united front and send a clear message that hate will not be tolerated and ensure that our Borough can remain a safe, thriving place for people to live.”

Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, Councillor Gabrielle Bunn added: “Renewing our Hate Crime Pledge is our public commitment to combat prejudice, support victims, and promote respect. It supports our Hate Crime Strategy, Policy and Action Plan, which focuses on actions to improve reporting pathways, raise awareness, support those targeted, and foster community understanding. As part of our ‘No Place for Hate’ campaign we will be taking a firmer, more visible stance in how we respond to hate, in public and on social media, while also celebrating the diversity of our community.”Text reads: No place for hate.
