Three mosaics of Eastwood icons from the past will also be installed in the pavement, featuring D.H. Lawrence, the Eastwood Tram, and the Midland Railway, paying homage to the town’s history and heritage.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the project will improve the aesthetic of the area, showcasing a renewed look in this part of Eastwood Town Centre.

Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Asset Management, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said, “This is a welcome and much needed investment into Eastwood Town Centre, helping to give the town centre a rejuvenated feel and residents pride in their home.

“It’s fantastic that work also includes a subtle nod to some icons that, each in their own ways, have shaped the very town we see today”.

Mayor of the East Midlands, Claire Ward said, “Hollies Square is set for a transformation that will make it a more welcoming and functional space for residents and visitors alike.”

“The new mosaics of D.H. Lawrence, the Eastwood Tram, and the Midland Railway will celebrate Eastwood’s heritage, creating a distinctive sense of place at the heart of the town.”

“Funding from the East Midlands Combined County Authority, via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, allows projects like this to deliver more than just improvements to public spaces. It strengthens local pride, supports the town’s economic vitality, and provides opportunities that benefit the community for years to come.”

Work is set to begin week commencing 9 March.

This project received £12,000 from East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) from funding provided by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
