Broxtowe Bestows Highest Honours On Four Community Champions
Amongst those admitted at the special ceremony on 28 January was 82 year old Richard Pratt, who has dedicated more than 30 years to supporting young people through scouting, patient involvement and other community roles.
Joining Richard, is Mark Preston, also known as Miss Zandra, who has raised over £520,000 for local charities in Eastwood and the surrounding areas by performing as his alter-ego Miss Zandra.
Dr Peter Robinson was recognised for his dedication to Beeston District and Civic Society which has helped promote awareness of Beeston’s historical significance and cultural landscape and make local heritage accessible to a wider range of people.
Finally, former Chief Executive of Broxtowe Borough Council, Ruth Hyde OBE, who retired in September, was awarded the honour of Freemen of the Borough for her strategic yet compassionate leadership across a wide range of county-wide and district level groups which have helped shape the local area, from major regeneration and funding initiatives to support economic growth, strategic planning and housing to championing community safety and cohesion.
