Statement on the death of Aldermen David Grindell
David was a devoted public servant, serving both as Town and Borough Councillor for Stapleford, David became a Councillor because he wanted to shift the community
back into caring for and supporting each other. He later became the Mayor of Broxtowe in 2022. In recognition of his lifelong dedication, he was recently awarded the title of Aldermen of the Borough of Broxtowe in 2024.
David’s commitment to our community was unparalleled. From his charitable fundraising for Middle Street Resource Centre, Durban House Community Hub and raising awareness of the White Ribbon campaign during his time as Mayor, to his leadership as Chair of the Bramcote and Stapleford Jubilee Group which established our flagship event Hemlock Happening. David’s efforts saw him awarded for his services to the community by the High Sheriff of Nottingham.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said, ‘I had the privilege of working with David for many years, David was an exceptionally hard working and diligent Councillor who was dedicated to his residents and will not be forgotten.’
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
