Stapleford’s Christmas Celebration will take place throughout the town on Saturday 29 November! Get ready for festive fun as Stapleford’s much-loved Christmas Lights Switch On Ceremony returns to the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square and for 2025, live entertainment, children's fair rides, and food stalls will be on the  Derby Road and Medivet Car Parks. The day kicks off from 1:00pm with a Christmas market on Victoria Street full of festive treats, hot food, sweets, donuts, and community stalls. There will be children's fair rides and stalls operating from 1:00pm. From 1:00pm to 4:30pm, children can meet Santa in his magical grotto at the Stapleford & Bramcote Conservative Club. Sensory-friendly sessions run from 1:00pm to 2:00pm— places are limited so book your free tickets early via Eventbrite https://bit.ly/478mKWi. The main entertainment begins at 4:30pm with live stage performances at Derby Road Car Park, meet the lively street theatre act Elves and the Goodometer and find out if you have been naughty or nice! Enjoy carol singing by the George Spencer Academy Band the popular acoustic duo Fran and Jono, then dance into the evening with a lively set from The SKAS playing upbeat Ska and 2Tone tunes. The Christmas Lights Switch On takes place at the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square by the Christmas Tree at 5:30pm, led by the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Stapleford Town Mayor, followed by a fireworks finale at 7:00pm, best viewed from the Walter Parker VC Memorial Square and Victoria Street. The event is organised by Broxtowe Borough Council, in partnership with Stapleford Town Council and the Stapleford Christmas Lights Steering Group, and proudly sponsored by Robert Ellis Stapleford, with support from the Stapleford Community Group, Poundstretcher and Medivet. Please note: Victoria Street will be closed from 10:00am to 9:00pm, and both the Medivet and Derby Road car parks will be closed all day. Residents affected by closures will be notified in advance.
