Green Belt Assessment Framework
The Green Belt Assessment Framework outlines a joint methodology for evaluating the contribution of land to Green Belt purposes and will guide the Councils in reviewing boundaries to support sustainable development and meet future housing needs. It incorporates updated national planning guidance and introduces a structured six-step process to undertake a review of the Green Belt and identify potential 'grey belt' land suitable for release, while ensuring consistency across Council boundaries.
For Broxtowe, it provides guidance for considering proposals on potential grey belt land. A full Green Belt Review will be undertaken as part of future plan preparation, following the adoption of the Greater Nottingham Strategic Plan.
Consultation on the Green Belt Assessment Framework was undertaken in August 2025.
