C28 - Health, Safety and Emergency Planning Officer (Career Graded)

Salary: £24,775 - £40,989 (Pay Award Pending)

Are you a graduate that would like to start a career in Health and Safety?  We are looking to train the right person in this newly established career graded post.

 

Your starting salary will be £24,775 (grade 5) and you will begin your training for the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health. 

 

On successful completion and successful demonstration of being able to carry out the full range of duties expected of a Health and Safety Officer your salary will rise to £30,851 (grade 8).

 

You will then begin your training for the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health.  On successful completion and successful demonstration of being able to carry out the full range of duties expected of a Health, Safety and Emergency Planning Officer your salary will rise to £39,166 to £40,989 (grade 11).

 

We need a highly motivated individual to join our team and to provide health and safety advice and help us continue to build on our existing positive health and safety culture.

 

As one of the persons in the Health, Safety, and Emergency Planning Team, you will be involved in all aspects of health, safety and emergency planning activities across the Council.

Specific initial duties when appropriately trained will include:

  • Health and Safety training including inductions
  • Providing advice and support to managers within the service areas
  • Providing support to managers with risk assessment advice and any safety issues
  • Administrative tasks within the Health, Safety, and Emergency Planning Team
  • Audits and inspections

 

What you need to know:

When appropriately trained the role involves being included in an out of hours cover rota for which an additional call out allowance and overtime is paid.

 

This post carries a designated car user status.  Candidates must be willing to use own car, or the ability to travel between council buildings within the borough.

 

Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be required to complete both a written and a practical test.  These will be carried out on the day of the interview and results will form part of the assessment process.
