Due to expansion an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our busy bereavement services team at Bramcote Crematorium and develop these services to meet the current and future needs of our customers, the families we serve, and the organisation.
Your duties will include all associated aspects relating to funerals, in accordance with the Cremation and Cemeteries Act and the Guiding Principles of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management. No two days are the same. Duties will include answering telephone enquiries from bereaved families and associated external stake holders. Acting as Chapel attendant, all administration and office duties, checking records and data entry, grounds maintenance, scattering of ashes and cremating. You will also have the opportunity to assist bereaved persons and provide excellent customer service.
In year one you will work towards achieving Level 2 Funeral Team Member Arranger qualification, supported by the Apprenticeship framework. Year two you will be enrolled onto the Crematorium Technician Training Scheme (CTTS) BTEC Accredited course gaining the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM) Qualification.
You must be computer literate and able to work under your own initiative as part of a team assisting professional officers. Speed and accuracy in your work is central to the success of the team’s work. Experience in a customer-focused environment is desirable.

Opened in 1979, Bramcote Crematorium has 2 service chapels, a team of 14 employees and conducts around 2400 cremations per annum. It is one of the busiest in the UK. The cemetery records and bookings for Broxtowe & Erewash Borough Councils are also managed from the administration office.
Working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday, within Bramcote Crematorium, you will be required to help in different roles within Bramcote Bereavement Services. There may be a requirement to work at other times if service demands so require.
The role is primarily based at Bramcote Crematorium, although you will be expected to attend community meetings when needed.
We’re looking for an individual who has experience in:
- Working in a customer facing role
- Delivering administrative functions and processes with regards personal data
- Working with the general public
The ideal candidate would be:
- Be highly motivated, with a proven track record, the successful applicant will be expected to have a basic knowledge and understanding of a modern-day bereavement service, including the day to day working of the Crematorium.
- Be passionate about the bereavement sector
- Have the creativity, drive and passion to meet the challenges of the role
- Be highly organised and able to work under pressure
- Someone who represents our GREAT values and behaviours
