Kimberley Institute Cricket Club upgrades complete for the 2026 season
New nets have been installed and rotated 90 degrees from where they once were, to allow for use during games. An electric supply has also been laid to the nets for bowling machines.
In 2025, the Kimberley Means Business Fund paid for the installation of two new hybrid pitches, a hard standing car park, and architect’s drawings for a new pavilion.
Kimberley Institute Cricket Club Chairman, Mark Towle, said, “These improvements mark a hugely important step forward for Kimberley Institute Cricket Club. The new nets and upgraded facilities are already transforming how our players train and develop, from our juniors taking their first steps in the game to our senior teams competing at a high level.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the Kimberley Means Business Fund and our partners, whose investment is helping to secure a strong and sustainable future for the club. This is about more than just infrastructure, it’s about creating opportunities, strengthening our community, and inspiring the next generation of cricketers.”
Portfolio Holder for Asset Management and Development, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said, “We’ve already seen the difference last year’s improvements have had on the club and the benefits that they’re seeing, right the way from their senior men’s and women’s teams to their many junior sides.
“The relocation of practice nets rounds off a wonderful project, allowing players to elevate their training during games and sessions, in addition to previous improvements to facilities on and off the pitch.
“Significant funding from the Kimberley Means Business Fund was invested into the facilities at the club, over £180,000, and I’m delighted to see everything come to fruition. Our investment has created a lasting impact at the club that will be felt by generations to come, and that’s exactly what this investment in the town has been about.”
Kimberley Means Business is UK Government funded and is administered by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with Kimberley Town Council.
