Key milestone reached in Bennerley investment as business units complete
Designed for start-ups and SMEs, the ‘Industrial and Logistics’ units will provide office space for local businesses and employment opportunities for local people that aims to boost investment and economic growth in the area.
The units are comprised of two buildings, one building with one large unit (8,250 sq. ft.) and one building with four small units (2,451 sq. ft., 1442 sq. ft., 990 sq. ft., and 657 sq. ft.).
Constructed by Harworth, the units have achieved excellent sustainability ratings, scoring high BREEAM accreditation levels, and are equipped with solar panels.
They have been designed to be in keeping with the local infrastructure, using a similar colour scheme to the nearby viaduct and visitor centre.
The development has included the development of a new access road off Shilo Way that will serve the site and the Bennerley Viaduct Visitor Centre, Woodiwiss Road, named after Abraham Woodiwiss (1828-1884) of Benton and Woodiwiss, a local iron foundry that constructed railways and bridges including Bennerley Viaduct. Pedestrian and cyclist access has also been improved off Shilo Way.
Portfolio Holder for Asset Management and Development, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE, said, “Attracting new investment into our Borough and its people is so important, and to do so, we need top class facilities for businesses to utilise.
“The units utilise Broxtowe’s great transport links, being so close to the M1 and A421, presenting a fantastic opportunity for the growth of local SMEs.”
If you are interested in renting one of the units or for more information, please contact the Council’s Estates Team on property@broxtowe.gov.uk or 0115 917 3425.
