Mayor of Broxtowe Hosts Afternoon Tea in Honour of Kimberley and Nuthall Volunteers
The event brought together representatives from a broad range of volunteers and organisations, including Kimberley Women’s Institute, 2nd Kimberley Scouts, Kimberley Bowling Club, Kimberley Swimming Club, Eastwood Hall Park Athletic Football Club, and volunteers who was nominated to Broxtowe Voluntary Awards in 2025, among others. Through their dedication, commitment and service, these individuals and groups have positively impacted countless lives and continue to strengthen the social fabric of the local community.
Speaking at the event, Councillor Bullock said, “It is a privilege to honour our local heroes, whose dedication and kindness shape the community’s heart and soul. Through leadership, generosity, and selfless acts of services, they make an immeasurable impact on Kimberley and Nuthall. This event, which is my final one, is a sincere token of our gratitude for their outstanding contributions.”
The afternoon provided an opportunity for volunteers to enjoy light refreshments and a well-deserved opportunity for reflection, as well as to engage with fellow community leaders and share experiences. A raffle was held during the event, with proceeds supporting the Mayor’s chosen charities for the year: Broxtowe Women’s Project and The Brain Tumour Charity. Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, £184 was raised in support of these important causes.
Volunteers are fundamental to the continued prosperity and wellbeing of the Borough of Broxtowe. Their tireless efforts help foster a community in which residents can live healthy, fulfilling lives and take pride in their local area. The Borough extends its sincere appreciation to all those who give their time and energy in service to others.
