Council seeking funding for Eastwood Healthy Living Hub

21/04/2026 - Plans for a Healthy Living Hub on Walker Street in Eastwood are being developed as Broxtowe Borough Council seek external funding to bring the project to life.

In December, the Council’s Cabinet agreed to commit £140,000 to further develop the plans and apply for any appropriate external funding grants with the Council now seeking funding from East Midlands Combined County Authority, the Ministry of Housing, Community and Local Government, or Department of Health and Social Care.Clock in Eastwood Town Centre outside the library with a union jack flag

The funds have been used to create a comprehensive design for the building, site layout and a business plan showing how the centre can be financially sustainable.  These RIBA Stage 1a plans have been provided by Alliance, a health and leisure industry expert, together with GT3 Architects, and major contractors Wilmott Dixon have identified a market-led budget for the centre.

The proposal for the Healthy Living Hub includes a new health and wellbeing hub that will house a new GP surgery, pharmacy, library, 5-lane community swimming pool, boxing club and women’s services.

Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Asset Management and Development, Councillor Milan Radulovic MBE said, “The early success of our Eastwood CEDARS Hub has demonstrated the need for improved health facilities in Eastwood, and we want to build on that success providing a high-quality health and leisure facility to residents.

“This is a significant investment in Eastwood and the Walker Street project is a key priority for the Council moving forward. With key investment projects ongoing in the other part of the Borough like Stapleford, Kimberley, and Bramcote, it is vital that Eastwood is not left behind.”
