Statement on the death of Aldermen John Booth
20/07/2026 - The Council is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Alderman John Booth.
John was a long-standing Councillor and former Leader of Broxtowe Borough Council. During his political career he served as Councillor for Stapleford East between May 1976 and May 1995 and then Councillor for Brinsley between July 2009 and May 2015.
In addition to this, John served as Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe in 1991-92.
During his time as Mayor, John supported The Child Arthritic Fund at the Queen’s Medical Centre, raising vital funds for a cause close to his heart.
As recognition of his lifelong dedication, John was awarded the title of Alderman of the Borough of Broxtowe in 2018.
