Mayor Invites Community to ‘Charity Day at the Boathouse Café

11/8/2026 - Residents, families and friends are warmly invited to join the Mayor of Broxtowe for a Charity Day on Sunday 30 August, from 9.00am to 3.00pm at The Boathouse Cafe, 1a Quay Side, Beeston Rylands.

Come along and enjoy a relaxing morning or afternoon with friends and family over a cup of tea or coffee while supporting the Mayor’s chosen charities, Broxtowe Youth Homelessness and Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire.

There will be a delicious selection of homemade cakes available at a charity cake sale, with the proceeds helping to raise funds for the two chosen charities. Visitors can also participate in the charity raffle, with tickets priced at £1 each, offering everyone the chance to win a range of prizes while supporting a good cause.

The Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Barbara Carr, said: “I would like to invite everyone to come along and support the Charity Day. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy tea, coffee and delicious cakes, and help raise funds and awareness of my two chosen charities. Every cup enjoyed, every slice of specially baked cake purchased and every raffle ticket sold will make a positive difference.”

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether you are dropping in for a quick coffee or staying to catch up with friends and family. The Mayor hopes the community will come together to make the event a great success. You support will help make a real difference to the two charities.
