Enjoy six weeks of festivities with the 2026 D.H. Lawrence Festival
This year’s festival launches on Saturday 1 August, 3:00pm at the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum, with poetry from Annette Pateman, free refreshments, and the chance to pick up a brochure and plan your festival.
Other major events include the popular D.H. Lawrence Music Festival (5 September), Heritage Open Days at the museum (12 and 13 September), and a guided walk around ‘Lawrence’s Nottingham’ on the author’s 141st birthday (11 September).
Portfolio Holder for Health and Leisure, Councillor Teresa Cullen, said, “The D.H. Lawrence Festival is a staple in the calendars of many of our residents, providing an incredible mix of events, many of which are free, across such a wide variety of themes – there truly is something for everyone during the six-week programme.
“D.H. Lawrence’s legacy continues to draw people into Eastwood, and the festival always gives such a boost to the town – particularly the music festival organised by Ben Mark Smith which I know is a day the whole town looks forward to.
“We’re so proud of our local culture and our Bertie, and it’s fantastic to see his memory celebrated all these years later, through the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum and this wonderful festival organised with our amazing partners.”
Museum and Collections Officer, Carolyn Melbourne said, “The annual D.H. Lawrence Festival brings the community together, attracts new audiences and continues to grow. Almost all of the events are completely free, though some are bookable, so make sure to reserve your place for those.”
The festival programme has been co-produced by the D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum, D.H. Lawrence Society, Haggs Farm Preservation Society, Broxtowe Women’s Project, Eastwood Town Council, Hill Top Community Church and Ben Mark Smith of the D.H. Lawrence Music Festival.
