Glass Bag and Red-lidded Bin

IMPORTANT NOTICE - We do not currently have any red-lidded glass bins in stock. However, we are expecting a delivery at the end of September 2025. Residents are still able to request red-lidded glass bins, however there will be a delay in the bins being delivered. As soon as we have received the stock of red-lidded bins, we will aim to deliver any backlog as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Key information
- Glass is collected separately from all other waste in Broxtowe.
- Glass can be put in Broxtowe branded glass bags or a red-lidded glass bin.
- It is collected every four weeks.
- Make sure to put bags/bins out for collection before 6.30am on your day of collection.
My bag/bin wasn’t collected, why?
There are several potential reasons why your glass was not collected, for example:
- It was placed in the wrong container or bag. Glass is only collected when it is in a Broxtowe issued glass bag or red-lidded bin.
- Your bag or bin was broken and unsafe to empty.
- It was contaminated with items that shouldn’t be in there.

How do I order a red-lidded glass bin?
140l red-lidded glass bins can be ordered at a one off cost of £36, if you wish to purchase you can request an Additional Bin (Opens in New Window).
Are there other ways I can recycle my glass?
Yes, you can take your glass bottles and jars to any of the glass banks in the Borough. Locations can be found on the Local Recycling Sites page (Opens in New Window).
What does the glass get recycled into?
Glass is 100% recyclable and doesn’t lose quality each time it is recycled making it a valuable and sustainable resource.
