New tailored education provision coming to Eastwood thanks to UK Shared Prosperity Fund grants

Founders Sam, with 20 years experience in youth work, many of which in Eastwood, and Ezrah, with a strong construction background with recent experience in teaching, came up with the idea in 2025 after identifying a gap in the education provision in and around Eastwood.

Starting from scratch, Sam and Ezrah sought advice and support at the Council’s first Business Breakfast, connecting them with business experts and guidance on how to start their own business, and introducing them to the Council’s ‘Broxtowe Start-Up Fund’ grants. The pair applied for, and were awarded, a £750 grant which they used to purchase a laptop and necessary software to begin their venture.

Six months down the line, Sam and Ezrah attended their second Business Breakfast in Kimberley, to learn more about how they could take the next step and move into their own premises. They were then awarded a second grant of £800 from the ‘Ready for Premises Fund’ which enabled them to pay for the change of use at their new premises and put some money towards their first month’s rent.

NLTE will provide education to those that have struggled in the traditional school system, and in particular those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, developing life skills and instilling confidence in young people through tailored education.

NLTE will be hosting an open day on Friday 18 September, from 12:30pm – 3:00pm to show what they’re offering.

Thanks to the incredible support and funding we have received from Broxtowe Borough Council, we have been able to turn that vision into a reality and put our plans in motion with confidence. We are truly grateful for the opportunities and support we have received.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is providing £25.17 million of funding for local investment across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in 2025/26. This funding, distributed by the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA), aims to boost pride in place and increase life chances in the region. The investment will focus on supporting communities and businesses, as well as developing skills for individuals.
