Electric Vehicle Charging Points

Information on the location and use of electric vehicle charging points at Council-owned car parks.

We are rolling out a major upgrade to electric vehicle (EV) charging points across all council managed car parks. Older chargers will be replaced with new, faster, and more reliable units designed to reduce charging times and support the growing number of EV drivers. Work will begin in June 2026 and will be carried out in phases. While some bays may be temporarily unavailable during installation, car parks will remain open throughout. Clear signage will be in place at each site.

This upgrade forms part of the Council’s commitment to improving local air quality and supporting a cleaner, greener transport network.

EV charging points in a car park

The Council currently has 32 electric vehicle charging points in Beeston, Stapleford, Kimberley and Eastwood thanks to funding from the Go Ultra Low Cities Project.

Electric vehicle owners who are already on the national POLAR network can also access the charge points via their app or RFID card.

EV charging costs can be found here:  BP Pulse

IMPORTANT - all the car park restrictions still apply when using the EV chargers including the requirement to obtain a Pay & Display ticket either at the car park or via Paybyphone.
