Work set to begin on new Bramcote Leisure Centre as contracts signed

The new replacement leisure centre will provide modern, accessible facilities designed to support health, wellbeing and community activity for residents across the area.

Including a 25-metre, six lane swimming pool, deep enough for the local synchronised swimming club, with viewing gallery, a 20-metre teaching pool, and spectator area, an indoor cycling studio, a large fitness suite, exercise hall, changing facilities and office space, the development will create a welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities.

The new centre will replace the existing leisure centre, ensuring long-term, high-quality provision for the community. As the new centre will be located on the existing car park area, alternative temporary car parking arrangements will be provided. Work will begin on the temporary car park in early October before the leisure centre commences construction 12 weeks later.

Solar panels will be installed on the centre roof to help reduce the carbon footprint of the building.

Existing members have been, and will continue to be, at the heart of the new centre. Existing members are due to be contacted about their preference on new gym equipment in the coming days.

Local residents, stakeholders, and user groups have been at the heart of consultation in the design of the new centre, which will provide top class facilities to residents for generations to come.

“The new Bramcote Leisure Centre will play a key role in supporting health, active lifestyles in our communities, but will also act as a meeting point, social space and key third space for many.”

The project has been shaped through consultation with local residents, stakeholders and user groups with the local Olympic swimmer, Rebecca Adlington, formally backing the project during a visit in 2024.
