Who are WISE?
WISE is an environmental enforcement agency who are supporting the Council with reports of fly- tipping and littering within the Borough. They will issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) to individuals committing the offense. The role of WISE is to protect public health and to enhance community pride and safety.
What is a Fixed Penalty Notice?
A FPN is a penalty payment given to somebody who has committed an environmental crime such as those listed previous. FPNs are required to be paid to stop the penalty from progressing further to a possible conviction in the Magistrates’ Court.
Why is Broxtowe Borough Council using a third-party enforcement company?
The Council is using WISE in response to resident feedback, which highlighted concerns with street cleanliness and fly-tipping. The Council are using this approach as one of the measures to take action and improve the cleanliness of the Borough, helping to ensure that residents' concerns are addressed.
