Wellbeing Walks 

We offer a programme of monthly Wellbeing Walks focused on getting an hour of fresh air, exploring the local area and meeting people. On the walks you can enjoy Broxtowe’s beautiful countryside, whilst learning about local heritage, and of course, D.H. Lawrence.

Wellbeing walks will take place on the first Tuesday of most months, meeting at 10.00am at the Birthplace Museum on Victoria Street, Eastwood.

2026 dates will therefore be:

D.H. Lawrence's time in America

A talk about D.H. Lawrence's time in the U S.A 1922 - 1925, by Michael Rumble.

• Tuesday 27 October, 2:00pm

Michael Rumble is an independent researcher and a member of the D.H. Lawrence Society. He will be delivering a talk about Lawrence's time in the U.S.A 1922 - 1925, focusing on his troubled relationship with Mabel Dodge Luhan, and aspects of his writing that were inspired by the New Mexico landscape.

C-City: Connecting Europe Through Art

17 September - 31 October

Broxtowe Borough Council is engaged in a cultural partnership known as the C-City Project, which is focused on European cultural cooperation. Broxtowe signed a charter alongside cities in Germany, Sweden, France and Poland to share arts, heritage and community best practices.

The travelling art exhibition is part of the C-City: Connecting Europe Through Art project. This collaborative European initiative features artworks created by citizens and artists from five twinned "C-Cities": Falun (Sweden), Broxtowe (UK), Gütersloh (Germany), Châteauroux (France), and Grudziadz (Poland).

Christmas at Home: Victorian Traditions & Treasures

12 November - 19 December

Step back into Christmas past and discover how Victorian families made the festive season special. Explore handmade decorations, Christmas cards, children's stories and treasured objects, and discover the traditions and simple pleasures of Christmas at home.

The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum will be dressed for a humble Victorian Christmas, reflecting the working-class home in which Lawrence grew up. Enjoy the festive displays, explore the exhibition and make your own Victorian-inspired Christmas craft to take home - free with admission.
